Ending Academic Imperialism.. a beginning

Author: C. K. Raju

Academic Imperialism begins with Western education, which has not been seriously challenged in hard sciences. Colonialism changed the system of education to stabilise Western rule through indoctrination.

Venezuela The Embattled Future
Author: Frederic F. Clairmont

The September 2010 legislative election in Venezuela, which saw the governing United Socialist Party (PSUV) lose it's two-thirds majority, highlighted the gravity of the challenges confronting President Hugo Chavez's "Bolivian revolution". According to Frederic Clairmont, the polls were a reflection of the continuing clash of contending class forces: the Chavez-led movement for a "socialism of the 21st century" and opponents seeking to entrench a neoliberal market-oriented order.

Decolonising The University

Editors: Claude Alvares and Shad Saleem Faruqi

Western civilisation is a metaphysical construct, an ideology, a conceit, an identity game, an intellectual invention designed to promote the interests of it's inventors. If one wanted to become mishievous, one could say that it was neither Western nor civilised.

"And what reason have you that you should not fight in the way of Allah and of the weak among the men and the women and the children, (of) those who say: Our Lord! Cause us to go forth from this town, whose people are oppressors, and give us from Thee a guardian and give us from Thee a helper."
