The protest against Barry Gardiner's invitation to Modi is still going on as planned on 9 September, 2013[1]

South Asia Solidarity Group said ‘in the face of so much opposition to the invitation to Modi, Barry Gardiner has now released a statement saying that Modi is unable to come in the next few weeks. But we are continuing our campaign demanding that the invitation is officially withdrawn and not repeated. Modi has already tried to make political capital in India from this invitation, and we need to send a clear message that he is not welcome here’

Protesting the collaboration and complicity of G4S in the incarceration and torture of defenceless Palestinians, and specifically Palestinian women and children, which the cowardly Zionist regime sadistically targets in order to frighten and intimidate the remaining population, those which it has not yet succeeded in murdering or chasing out from the land it stole from them.

Author evening with Joe Glenton

IHRC hosted an author evening with Joe Glenton, ex-soldier, writer and film maker to discuss his book ‘Soldier Box’. On Wednesday 28th August  2013 IHRC hosted an author evening with Joe Glenton, ex-soldier, writer and film maker to discuss his book ‘Soldier Box’.

In his book Glenton reveals why he left the army, and the personal war he faced fighting for his convictions. What he saw overseas in Afghanistan and Kenya left him disillusioned and he returned manifesting symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Refusing a second tour to Afghanistan, he went AWOL and left the country, but returned voluntarily to fight his case with the military accusing him of desertion. Despite being threatened with years in prison, he continued to speak out and won the support of many of his fellow soldiers.  He was eventually incarcerated for five months.

The September 11 anniversary is almost upon us. Most people associate this day with the World Trade Center attacks. But before 2001, September 11 was already a day of infamy for Latin America and Chile in particular. On that day in 1973, General Augusto Pinochet led a US-backed coup against the popularly elected government of Salvador Allende, and thus began his repressive 17-year dicatorship. Take a look at Chile: The Other September 11

Similar titles:

Being Luis: a Chilean life by Luis Munoz

A powerful account of a life that reflects recent Chilean history from the 1960s to the present through the author's extraordinary personal experiences.

Salvador Allende: Revolutionary Democrat by Victor Figueroa Clark

This is a political biography of the president of Chile until he was ousted by General Pinochet in a US-supported coup in 1973.
