In light of the UN’s recent decision to impose an arms embargo against the Houthis and their allies in Yemen and continued Saudi-led aggression, IHRC is calling on all those who struggle against injustice to mobilise themselves.

In punishing the Houthis and their allies the UN is actually punishing the victims in Yemen, those whose legitimate aspirations for self-determination have been suppressed by the internal allies of the neo-colonialists and more lately by the armed intervention by some countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Saudi Arabia’s reckless airstrikes have resulted in over 200 casualties in the city of Aden. By not condemning the recent external aggression, the UN has effectively given the green light to continue to bomb the Yemeni people – choosing not to assist them in their time of need. Please take a stand against Saudi’s military intervention and awful precedent it is setting up.

We urge everyone to step up their efforts to highlight the situation in Yemen and mobilise their resources to help defend the rights of its suffering people. IHRC calls on all civil societies, NGOs, organizations who stand against injustice and all members of the general public who care about such causes – organize protests, demonstrations and seminars to raise awareness.

Make sure you inform IHRC of any event/protest/demo you’re planning on hosting and we’ll help promote by adding the details to our website. Email nadia[at]ihrc.org with information
