Egyptian Security Services today conducted a dawn raid on 15 of Muslim Brotherhood (MB) top leaders. The arrested included, Brotherhood deputy Chairman Dr. Mahmud Ezzat, senior member Dr. Essam el-Erian and a member of the MB Guidance Bureau Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Berr.  

They raided the house of Dr. Mohi Hamid, a member of the MB Guidance Office and arrested a number of other leading Brotherhood figures who are commonly known for their competence and hard work in their respective fields. Security Services used barbaric methods of intimidation targeted at the families of those arrested.

The MB lawyers are still collecting the names of those arrested. Below are some names of the arrested members:

Ahmed Abbas (Cairo)
Dr. Mohamed Saad Elewa, Head of Urology Department in Bolaq el-Dakrour Hospital (Giza).
Dr. Mohammad Abdel Ghani, an Ophthalmology specialist at Zagazig University Hospitals (Sharqeya).
Waleed Shalabi, Islamic writer (Sharqeya).
Dr. Ali Abdel Rahim, professor in the Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University (Asiut)
Khalaf Thabit Hareedy, Teacher(Asiut).
Ibrahim Al-Sayyed (Alexandria)
Ahmed Abdel-Ati (Alexandria)
Mustafa Al-Sharbatly(Alexandria)
Mossad Qutb (Gharbeya)


2. Action required

Write to the Egyptian ambassador and the Foreign Minister in your country, requesting them to urge the Egyptian government to investigate the grounds of the arrest and call for the immediate release of the detainees.


a) Minister of foreign affairs in your country.

b) Egyptian Ambassador in your locality.
