PRESS RELEASE:  UK – Response to decision to scrap Stop and Search powers

In response to the decision to scrap the Stop and Search, IHRC Chair Massoud Shadjareh said:

“While we welcome this long overdue decision of the home secretary, we believe that the new government should also review the manner in which all the anti-terror laws and powers have been implemented. Without such a review, suspending the Stop and Search powers alone will fail to address the wider and the most significant problems with these laws.”
