PRESS RELEASE: Libya – Benghazi death toll exceeds 200; violence continues

20.35GMT, for immediate release.  IHRC has received reports from Benghazi that ongoing violence against protestors by the regime has resulted in over 200 deaths.

Reports also state that aerial bombardment of the protestors from helicopters, using live fire and  rockets is underway. Snipers have also been targeting proetstors.

IHRC Chair Massoud Shadjareh said:

“The international community must take immediate action against the Libyan authorities to end this violence.  As in Bahrain, the current Libyan regime whether it stays or go must be held accountable under international law f or the crimes they are committing in these days.

“It must be clearly made known to the Al-Khalifas and Ghadafi that they will be held accountable.”
