00:51 GMT IHRC is deeply disturbed by reports from BCHR[1] that their President, Nabeel Rajab has been arrested in the last hour.

According to BCHR, 40 security personnel and mercernaries, raided Rajab's home armed with sticks.

Massoud Shadjareh, the chair of IHRC, said:

“We pray for Nabeel Rajab's safety and call on all activist and campaigners to make their immediate protests heard via email / fax/ telephone call to Bahraini embassies world-wide.

"It is impertaive that the arrests, attacks and mass killings in Bahrain are properly condemned by the world community.”
