The report uses Iran and Turkey as examples in some points as well as referring to the case of Gul Aslan. Arzu cites Katerina Dalacoura’s studies of ‘Islamic Iran’ for its more sympathetic tone when discussing the extent of muslim women rights, critiquing the limitations of her view as a reason why current ‘Western’ theories of rights deny Muslim women agency.
