Event Update: Programme Details for the Islamophobia Awards, June 26, 2004

4th June 2004

IHRC’s fundraising night of comedy, sumptuous food and entertainment will take place on Saturday 26th June 2004 at the Islamic Centre of England, 140 Maida Vale, London, W9 (for directions see below). The programme starts at 5 p.m. and includes a sumptuous three course dinner catered by the internationally renowned Khans of Bayswater. On street parking is available.

Performers

Performing live will be on the evening will be: Mecca 2 Medina, the UK’s first and most successful Muslim Hip Hop and Ragga group (www.mecca2medina.com)
Nurul Mustafa the exciting and enchanting traditional Tavashih group (to listen to them at last year’s awards go to www.inminds.co.uk/ra/ihrc-awards2003-6.rm )
and Khaleel Muhammad the nasheed soul artist (www.khaleelmuhammad.com).

Awards

The spoof awards cover the year’s most Islamophobic British Politician; International Politician; Media Personality; Media and the ‘coveted’ Islamophobe of the Year.

Auction donors

IHRC would like to thank the many donors for the fundraising auction, including photographer Muhsin Kilby for donating two excellent prints, artist Ali Omer Ermes for donating two prints, Soundvision UK for donating a set of Dawud Wharnsby Ali tapes, Innovative Minds for donating sets of Islamic software, Crescent International for donating subscriptions, the Institute for Contemporary Islamic Thought for donating a set of books by the late Dr. Kalim Siddiqui, Khan’s of Bayswater for donating dinners at their establishment.
