PRESS RELEASE: Muslims and Jews to Protest Together Against Zionism

Hundreds of protestors from across the political and religious spectrum are expected to picket the annual “Celebrating Israel” celebrations in London, UK tomorrow.

As British Zionists commemorate the birth of the Zionist state 54 years ago the protestors will remind the attendees that for the Palestinians this day represents the Nakba, or the catastrophe, a day that sealed their exile from their homeland.

Traditionally the day is observed throughout the Palestinian diaspora as a day of sadness and mourning. This year it takes on an added poignancy as Palestinians endure a massive three-week old Israeli military onslaught against their towns and villages in the occupied West Bank.

In a feat of inter-faith cooperation the protestors will comprise members of all major faith groups, including Jews. The highlight of the picket will be the arrival of orthodox rabbis at 3pm to denounce Israel as a catastrophe for world Jewry.

The picket will take place between 1-6pm outside Wembley Conference Centre where the Zionist Federation is staging tomorrow¹s event.
