Arun Kundnani joins us to discuss his book ‘The End of Tolerance: Racism in 21st Century Britain’.

Do we really believe that there are inherent differences in people just because of their race and or religion?  Britain is one of the most ethnically diverse countries in the world with over 300 languages currently spoken in London schools alone.  However the era of globalisation has brought with it an increase in discrimination and social segregation.  Arun Kundnani a leading analyst and activist on racism provides a clear and informative account of British racism and how this has led to the current debates on asylum seekers, the war on terror, Britishness and Muslims in his book ‘The End of Tolerance: Racism in 21st Century Britain.’

Reviews:

Gary Younge, Guardian
‘Before you can solve a problem you have to understand it.  Arun Kundnani not only understands the roots and ramifications of contemporary racism but explains it clearly.  An incisive book at a decisive moment.’

A. Sivanandan, Director of the Institute of Race Relations
‘All future works on racism will have to begin where Kundnani has left off’.

So join IHRC for an evening of discussion with Arun Kundnani and put your questions to the leading commentator on racism, immigration and multiculturalism.

"And what reason have you that you should not fight in the way of Allah and of the weak among the men and the women and the children, (of) those who say: Our Lord! Cause us to go forth from this town, whose people are oppressors, and give us from Thee a guardian and give us from Thee a helper."
