Praying at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on the last Friday of the month in Ramadhan

On the last Friday prayer of this year's Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, Palestinians struggled to reach Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The worshippers passed through multiple checkpoints and scaled walls with ladders in order to pray at one of Islam's most holy sites.

It is also Al Quds day, an annual anti-Zionist protest against the Israeli occupation of Palestine that has been commemorated with worldwide demonstrations. According to the Islamic Human Rights Commission, this year's theme is "the liberation of Palestine."
