Amended Alert: Nominations for the annual Islamaphobia awards

Islamic Human Rights Commission presents ‘The Annual Islamaphobia Awards’ an annual fundraiser banquet that takes a satirical look at the year\’s events and presents awards to the biggest Islamaphobes. It promises to be a superb evening of comedy and light entertainment which ends with a sumptuous 3 course meal.

Entertainment will include comedy sketches, spoof awards and traditional naats, nasheeds and kawali. There will also be an auction during the evening which will give guests an opportunity to acquire an array of Islamic arts, ornaments and goods, whilst also contributing to a worthy cause.

Members of the public are asked to nominate candidates they feel should win the categories listed below, everybody including organisations are welcome to make nominations regardless of whether they attend the awards evening or not. You can make up to two nominations for each category, include your reasons why and attach any material (e.g. video clips, newspaper articles etc.) you feel appropriately supports your nominations. The deadline for the nominations is 11th April 2003.

The categories are as follows:

Most Islamaphobic British Politician of the year

Most Islamaphobic international politician

Most Islamaphobic media personality

Most Islamaphobic media (Radio or TV programmes or stations, newspapers or magazines)

Islamaphobe of the year (nominee may be from any of the above categories or any new persons)
