Dhul Hijjah Message from IHRC Chair, Massoud Shadjareh

Salamun alaykum,

Dear Respected Brothers and Sisters We pray that this communication finds you in good health and Iman. We are in the blessed ten days of Dhul Hijjah, in which our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days (Dhul Hijjah).” Many have been blessed to go to Hajj, following in the footsteps and actions of Ibrahim (AS), Ismail (AS) and Hajar (AS). One of the key themes that appears within the message of their actions is sacrificing for the sake of Allah.

You have persevered with us on our journey to support those that have sacrificed everything for the sake of Allah or those that have been oppressed simply because they declare that they are Muslims. We have been spearheading and mobilising thousands of Muslims worldwide in support of the Muslims in Nigeria that have been subjected to state violence. Alhamdulillah, as those that are following this campaign will know, we have made great strides. But this is only the tip of iceberg and we have much more to do. The Uighurs and the Rohingya continue to be persecuted mercilessly, something that has not been witnessed in modern times. Our unique work in highlighting their plight has brought attention to the specifics of their cause that most are not able to cover or document. Our reports on them have proven timeless and continue to be used by NGOs and government bodies. Many have risked their lives in documenting the details in our reports.

We request you to continue to make dua for those that are oppressed, as the Prophet (SAW) “There is nothing more dear to Allah, than a servant making dua to Him.” At our disposal, this is one of our greatest weapons, but with dua we should follow up with actions and sacrifices. Something that you have shown us with your unwavering support.

Finally, I would like to bring to your attention, this year we have launched a Qurbani campaign for the Muslims in Nigeria who have been orphaned and widowed as a result of the states wanton violence, only because they stood up to oppression. A Qurbani share costs £75 which will cover the cost of the animal, food and upkeep, transportation, distribution costs and the hire of butchers. Please visit our website to donate towards Qurbani and do share this message amongst your friends and family. To donate please click here.

May Allah reward you for your actions and accept your dua. As always we continue to request your support and duas. May Allah give ease and guidance to those that are being oppressed.

Your brother in Islam,

Massoud Shadjareh
