WHERE: IHRC Bookshop & Gallery, 202 Preston Road, Wembley, HA9 8PA (Nearest tube: Preston Road / Metropolitan Line)

Join us for a screening of Insight to Riot (50min, Dir: Sukant Chandan). The film features some of the leading Black, radical and grassroots voices in England speaking on the riots that raged across dozens of towns and cities in England following on 4 August 2011 the police killing of Mark Duggan, an unarmed Black youth in the largely immigrant and poor community of Tottenham in North London, a community that has resisted far right racism and UK state racism for generations.

Insight to Riot features dramatic archive footage from August 2011, an excellent soundtrack and an in-depth and multifaceted deconstruction of the underlying issues, from the very local to the broadly global and international dynamics that contextualise the events to inform and facilitate a deeper understanding of the events.
Insight to Riot is a documentary film that captures the inspiring but also at times very sad and traumatic stories of Black and poor people reacting and responding and navigating a growing racist, oppressive society and government, and the dangers and fall outs of such a trajectory.
