CAMPAIGN UPDATE: Release of Jerome Kwame Hibell – British National Detained in Syria

IHRC welcomes news that by the grace of Allah, Jerome Kwame Hibell has been released by the Syrian authorities and has returned home to the UK. Jerome had been detained in Syria since 20 December 2006. He had been in Syria with his wife and child for almost two years where he was studying Arabic. He was detained incommunicado and the Syrian Authorities had not informed his family where and why he was being held.

IHRC is very grateful to all those who campaigned for Jerome\’s release and congratulates them for their tireless efforts. IHRC urges them not to forget about the thousands of other innocent detainees languishing in prison cells around the world as part of the \’war on terror\’.

IHRC was one of a number of organizations campaigning for Jerome\’s release including Amnesty International and Cageprisoners.
