IHRC would like to wish all a happy and prosperous Eid ul-Adha. We would like to apologise for the continued difficulties with our website which we are endeavouring to resolve. Below are some of the highlights of the last few months, as well as notices for two part-time positions at IHRC.

 Campaign Letter: Protest British complicity in Fallujah crimes

 IHRC has produced a model letter for campaigners to send to the British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw to protest British complicity in the crimes being perpetrated in Fallujah.

 IHRC UK Event: An Audience with Nur ul-Mustafa
 06 February 2005 
 Accalimed Tavashih singers Nur ul-Mustafa will be performing live in Southampton\’s Medina Mosque in aid of IHRC. Tickets are £5 per adult and £2.50 per child. This includes dinner.

 Case-work support / General Administrative worker, 3 days a week
 Three months starting April 2005
 £12,000 pro rata
IHRC is looking for a part-time worker to provide case-work and administrative support. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone seeking experience within a civil society organisation that deals with domestic advocacy and international campaigning.
Applicants should be computer literate, and some experience of case-work is desirable but not essential. Applicants should provide at least two personal references and a CV, with a covering letter briefly outlining why they want to work for IHRC.
Applications must be received by 5 pm Friday, 4th March, and must be available for interviews for short-listed candidates on either 10th or 11th March, and if accepted, training in the week beginning 14th March.
IHRC hours are 10 am – 6 pm, and our offices are based in Wembley, London. Some work during unsociable hours may be required.
Job description
 Provide case-work support to the volunteer advisors
 Undertake basic case-work administration
 Provide campaign support including writing of alerts and other campaign material
 Undertaking some general administrative work

 General Administrative worker / Researcher, 2 – 3 days a week
 Three months starting March 2005
 £12,000 pro rata
IHRC is looking for a part-time worker to provide administrative and some research support for its project British Muslims’ Expectations of the Government. This project was lunched in the summer of 2004 and its first two reports were launched at the House of Lords in December.
Applicants should be computer literate, and a background in social science is highly desirable. Applicants should be conversant with the aims and work of the BMEG project and IHRC. A knowledge of (a) community language(s) is desirable but not essential. Applicants should provide at least two personal references and one academic or appropriate professional reference and a CV, with a covering letter briefly outlining why they want to work for IHRC and this project in particular.
Applications must be received by 5 pm Friday, 11th February, and must be available for interviews for short-listed candidates on Wednesday 16th February.
IHRC hours are 10 am – 6 pm, and our offices are based in Wembley, London. Some work during unsociable hours may be required.
