Forwarded Event Alert: UK – London Women’s Demonstration against Uzbek Regime’s Sexual Molestation of Female Prisoners

London UK, 17 December 2008 – Hundreds of Muslim women will demonstrate outside the Uzbek embassy in London this Saturday [11:30am, 20th December] to express their outrage at Uzbek regime’s depraved actions against female political prisoners. The demonstration has been organised by the women’s chapter of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain. On the day, a high-level delegation will deliver a letter demanding the release of those imprisoned.

Commenting on these atrocities, Dr. Nazreen Nawaz, Women’s Media Representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain said, “The recent report that 28 Muslim women were arrested for alleged ‘religious extremism’, filmed for a pornographic video and then warned that similar videos would be shot if they did not confess to a crime are the latest chapter in the Karimov regime’s brutal campaign against Muslims who speak out against its tyranny and oppression.”

“It is now self-evident that millions in Central Asia and across the Muslim world yearn to see the return of the Shariah and Islamic Khilafah state to their lands. Unlike the existing regimes, the Khilafah will liberate the region from dictatorships, safeguard the honour of women and end the collusion with foreign powers in their so called war on terror.”

“With Allah’s help and with renewed determination, we will ensure that these women do not stand alone in their prison cells but that thousands across the world will keep up an unrelenting campaign to expose their plight, speak on their behalf and expose the debased actions of a regime that will soon be confined to the dustbin of history.”

Notes for Editors:

1) The demonstration will take place on Saturday 20th December 2008 at 11.30am outside the Uzbekistan Embassy [41 Holland Park, London W11 3RP. Nearest Tube: Holland Park].

“And what reason have you that you should not fight in the way of Allah and of the weak among the men and the women and the children, (of) those who say: Our Lord! Cause us to go forth from this town, whose people are oppressors, and give us from Thee a guardian and give us from Thee a helper.”
