Istanbul Police start to put people under surveilance due to the “Hand in Hand Protest Campaign.”

Since 12 Ekim 1998, Istanbul Police start to put people under surveillance because of the “Hand in Hand Protest Campaign for the Head Scarf Ban”. The list of the detained people are following: Abdurrahman Dilipak, writer of Akit Newspaper; Ahmet Taºgetiren, writer of Yeni Safak Newspaper;Ekrem K¹z¹ltaº, director of Milli Newspaper; Hüseyin Okçu, director of Sina Agency; Kenan Yabanigül, chairman of Selam Foundation; Yunus Torpil, the chairman of Human Foundation; Mustafa ªen, chairman of MGV(National Youth Organization) Istanbul Branch; and Ebrahim Solmaz., chairman of ÖNDER (Secondary school for the training of Islamic religious personnel Organization) . Besides , about 100 students are detained.
