Dear Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley,

We write further to our letter dated 8 December 2023 and the email from Inspector Abdul-Hamid.

We are concerned that the Metropolitan Police has failed pursue prosecutions of those referred to in our letter dated 8 December. This relates to pro-Israel protestors in a video widely circulated on social media who can clearly be heard shouting “Judenrat” at their co-religionists. Judenrat is a slur used by Jews to describe Nazi collaborators.

We request you assure us the people concerned have been arrested for racially and religiously aggravated harassment and abuse. Failure to do so will result in the total lack of public confidence in the Metropolitan Police Force and its independence and ability to prosecute genuine cases of anti-Semitism. Instead the Metropolitan Police appear to be focusing on arresting individuals displaying banners or items of clothing with Arabic script. This can only be construed as rampant Islamophobia on the part of the Metropolitan Police. We cannot help wonder how your officers are trained if they are unable to differentiate on what constitutes clear incidents of blatant anti-Semitism ie Judenrat and what is not ie Arabic script without determining the meaning.

We look forward to your prompt reply.

Yours sincerely

Islamic Human Rights Commission
