This week’s video from IHRC Chair Massoud Shadjareh looks at the US presidential elections.  Despite the supposed difference between the candidates Donald Trump and Joe Biden, Massoud asks if there really is a choice to be had, when structural injustice underpins the system of the USA.  Whether it’s ethnic and religious inequality, economic injustice or the oppression of women, migrants and political dissenters, or waging unjust wars outside its border, the USA has a catalogue of crimes and misdemeanours for which accountability and change are required.[page continues after video].

In the run up to the elections the IHRC Bookshop will be offering substantial discounts on IHRC publications and selected other books.  This week we are offering our landmark publication, ‘The New Colonialism: The American Model of Human Rights’ for £14 (paperback) with the PDF added for free (reduced from usual price £29 together).

The book looks at systemic racism, the injustices in the foundation of the USA, the war on terror and its global impact, internal US corruption like the Flint water scandal and the US control over cyberspace.

With papers from Saied R. Ameli, Laurens de Rooij, Mary K. Ryan, Saeed A. Khan, Tasneem Chopra, Sandew Hira, Ramon Grosfoguel, Rajeesh Kumar and Sohail Daulatzai.
