PRESS RELEASE: Mauritian opposition leader released after three years incarceration on trumped up charges
IHRC welcomes the release of Cehl Meeah the Mauritian opposition politician detained on trumped up charges for almost three years.
The prosecution admitted they had no evidence against him yesterday as all other major charges against him for conspiracy to murder the former Prime Minister were dropped. Meeah had two British lawyers in his team: Osama Daneshyar and Nicholas Cooke QC who took the case on pro bono.
