PRESS RELEASE: UK – IHRC welcomes Aamer Anwar not guilty verdict

IHRC welcomes Aamer Anwar being cleared of the contempt charge he faced.

IHRC Chair Massoud Shadjareh commented:

“We are gladdened by the outcome, but the mere presence of a case like this really highlights the alternative sort of justice Muslims and minority communities, as well as their lawyers, are subject to in the UK. The ordeal of Anwar is strikingly similar to that of Mudassar Arani, in so far as the legal representation of high profile Muslim ‘terror-suspects’ are subject to incrimination and character assassination simply for doing their job.”
