Every Ramadan, the IHRC publishes a newsletter reporting on its work over the previous year and the progress of the organization as a whole. This year’s newsletter is now available, for download and in hard copy format for physical distribution.
IHRC commemorates its 20th year with this special edition of the newsletter featuring photos from the last two decades and a write-up on how the organisation came to be and all it has acheived.
IHRC works at different levels simultaneously: helping individuals with their problems through our advocacy team and IHRC Legal; campaigning on major issues concerning Muslims generally, such as those unfairly targeted by the UK government’s PREVENT strategy’; highlighting human rights abuses around the world, from Nigeria and Bahrain to the USA and Myanmar; conducting research into social and political trends of particular concern, such as Islamophobia in Europe; and ensuring that Muslim concerns are heard in such forums as the UN and the European Parliament.
Our lead story focuses on the battle against Islamophobia and the current subservience of the Muslim community. Now, is the time to look adversity in the face and combat the injustice that is occuring worldwide. The media and politicians have made it so that hatred and discrimination towards Muslims is normalised – we must not stop this from asserting our values and rights. IHRC will continue to be the voice for those who feel helpless in these trying times and we need your help to do so!
The newsletter also reflects the work IHRC has done over the past year. This includes the many events we host – Genocide Memorial Day, the Islamophobia Awards, Al Quds Day and more – and the protests we organise; the publications we produce and what the IHRC Bookshop has been up to and more. We’ll also be looking ahead to new, exciting projects and upcoming events that you too can involve yourself in whether that is through volunteering or by helping us raise funds.
Please help us distribute the newsletter this year… for free copies for your family, friends and local mosque or Islamic centre, call the IHRC office on 0208 904 4222 or email: email@example.com.
