Defenders of Islam, Muslims and others

IHRC was set up 26 years ago inspired by the exhortation in the Holy Quran to defend Islam and Muslims: “And what reason have you that you should not fight in the way of Allah and of the weak among the men and the women and the children, (and of) those who say: ‘O Lord! Cause us to go forth from this town, whose people are oppressors, and give us from Thee a guardian and give us from Thee a helper’.” – [Qur’an, 4:75]

Our achievements in defending Islam, Muslims and others.

We were the FIRST Muslim organisation set up in the UK to address national and global human rights issues from an Islamic perspective.

We were the FIRST Muslim organisation to raise awareness and campaign for the rights of Uighurs, Rohingya and Guantanamo Bay.

We were the FIRST Muslim organisation to research and publish reports on Islamophobia.

We were the FIRST Muslim organisation to withdraw from the government consultations from the Islamophobic PREVENT programme, a move that led to others doing the same.

We were the FIRST and only Muslim organisation to have a dedicated legal department staffed by trained solicitors, offering services to help Muslims and others uphold their rights.

We are the FIRST Muslim organisation to send legal teams to observe and report on crimes against the oppressed including occupied Palestine, Turkey, Bahrain, Mauritius, Lebanon ....

We were the FIRST Muslim organisation to campaign against the hijab ban at home and abroad including Turkey and France..... Over 26 years.

We were the FIRST Muslim organisation to designate Israel an apartheid state in 2001, prior to Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch

We are the FIRST Muslim organisation to make complaints to the International Criminal Court which has led them to open up investigations.

The list above is not exhaustive, we are proud to be the pioneers with the most comprehensive response in defending Islam and representing the rights of Muslims and others. We operate here in the UK and worldwide with a presence at the United Nations and European Council. We are engaged in humanitarian work providing a lifeline to the oppressed in Yemen, Palestine, Nigeria, and the Rohingya in Bangladesh and support prisoners in the UK.

We continue to do all these things and more in our mission to defend and advance Muslim rights.

We know that this is a difficult time for all of us. But the needs of the ummah have not diminished.

Whether this is in Palestine where the ongoing Zionist occupation has intensified or in Yemen where the ongoing conflict continues to exact a devastating toll on the innocent, or the rampant Islamophobia in the UK and Europe that is responsible for untold levels of persecution, misery and suffering, the calls on our time and resources are greater than ever before.

Our work can only continue with your support. We know that everyone’s resources are stretched at the current time. However we need to make sure that the needs of the less fortunate are met. This is the time to stand up and be counted, following the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) who used to increased his charity during this blessed month.
