Urgent Alert: UK – IHRC requests that any organisations and/or individuals having problems with their bank accounts to come forward
The Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) is very concerned about the closing down of bank accounts belonging to Muslim organisations, in particular aid and human rights organisations and individuals associated with such organizations.
Barclay’s decision to terminate all dealings with the Ummah Welfare Trust and serve it a 30 day notice period alongside the recent decision by Lloyds TSB to serve notice to the Islamic Bank of Britain to cease all dealings with the UK registered charity Interpal have proved a cause for concern.
In light of these recent account closures, IHRC would like to assess the severity of the situation and thus urges any organisations or individuals whose accounts have been closed by British banks to come forward and contact the IHRC.
The IHRC operates in a confidential manner and will keep private, unless given permission, all information that may be provided.

“And what reason have you that you should not fight in the way of Allah and of the weak among the men and the women and the children, (of) those who say: Our Lord! Cause us to go forth from this town, whose people are oppressors, and give us from Thee a guardian and give us from Thee a helper.”
