What’s new at ihrc.org.uk?

This edition of “What’s new” features a series of alerts highlighting the human rights situation in Bahrian, Libya, UK and USA. The event alert of the photo exhibition entitled: ‘Uighurs: China’s forgotten Muslims’ is the leading alert in this month’s edition.

Babar Ahmad’s decision to sue the Metropolitan Police for the brutal assault he sustained during his arrest in December 2003, leads the Press Release section. The Metropolitan Police agreed to a payment of 60,000 pounds to Babar Ahmad following a brief court hearing that he was subjected to “serious gratuitous prolonged unjustified violence” and “religious abuse” after his arrest. IHRC presents its report entitled “For Liberty”. The report discusses the dire impact of the French Ban on the Islamic Headscarf and other Religious Symbols in Schools. This and more is featured in the Reports section.
