Alert: Take part in two new research projects for IHRC
Background
1.   Essential Needs of Muslims in Non-Muslim Countries: A Survey
2.   Muslim Experiences of Hostility and Discrimination, 2010 Pilot Project
Background
IHRC is launching two new major research projects. We sincerely hope that those of you who are able to participate in these projects can and will do so. Both require the completion of questionnaires. Â
The first project focuses on Muslim needs and the policies of governments, on issues such as service delivery, first and second language support, and integration and assimilation policies.
The second project focuses on experiences of discrimination and hostility (including hate crimes) in various settings, including in public and social scenarios, as well as in the media and political circles. Â
Please fill in both or either questionnaire and pass the message on to others.
Brief details follow.
1.   Essential Needs of Muslims in Non-Muslim Countries: A Survey
IHRC is trying to assess the needs of Muslims living in ‘minority’ situations. This survey will focus on government policy towards ‘minorities’. This questionnaire is available in English, German, Arabic and French. The survey is available at:
Essential Needs of Muslims in Non-Muslim Countries: A Survey
Your contribution to this project will help IHRC make appropriate representations to governments relating to service delivery and creating cohesive societies.
2.   Muslim Experiences of Hostility and Discrimination, 2010, Pilot Project
IHRC is launching a pilot project to assess the levels of hostility and discrimination faced by Muslims, including hate crimes. Hard copy distribution of this questionnaire in the following languages is beginning shortly in English, French, Arabic, Turkish, Dutch and Flemish. Other languages are soon to follow.
The questionnaire is available on-line at:
Muslim Experiences of Hostility and Discrimination, 2010, Pilot Project
The results of this project will be written up and used to show levels of hostility and discrimination faced by Muslims. This project will then be refined and hopefully repeated annually.
For more information on either of these projects, please contact the Research Section of IHRC on research@ihrc.org or (+44) 20 8904 4222.
