On Sunday 30 June 2013, activists protested outside the Embassy of Jordan in London against the Jordanian government’s silence over the torture of five Jordanian citizens currently detained in Israeli prisons.

IHRC volunteers distributed leaflets and unfurled a giant banner highlighting Israel’s human rights abuses targeting children.  A letter was also sent to the Ambassador at the Embassy of Jordan, Mazen Homoud, demanding that he takes steps to address the human rights violations that citizens of his country are being subjected to on a daily basis.

The protest received widespread coverage both nationally and abroad, particularly because it was co-ordinated to take place at the same time as the protest in Jordan.

The five hunger strikers: Abdullah Al-Barghothi, Hamzah Al-Dabbas, Muneer Merei, Alaa Hammad and Mohammad Al-Rimawi are facing deteriorating health conditions and are continually denied much needed medical attention.  Some of the prisoners have lost their ability to walk and are confined to wheel chairs.

This protest was part of the ongoing Palestinian Prisoners Campaign led by IHRC and Innovative Minds.
