Going to jail: A man who admitted helping the Lebanese group Hizbullah by sending broadcasts from a television station has been sentenced in New York City.

Saleh Elahwal was sentenced Tuesday to a year and five months in prison. He had pleaded guilty to providing material support to Hizbullah.

The sentencing came two months after the main defendant in the case was sentenced to more than five years in prison.

Elahwal, who lives in Matawan, New Jersey, admitted accepting thousands of dollars to provide satellite transmission services to the Hizbullah station al-Manar between September 2005 and August 2006.

Hizbullah has fought Israel since the early 1980s, and has been using its television station extensively as part of its struggle against the Jewish State.

Both Israel and the US consider Hizbullah to be a terrorist organization.
