Sheikh Zakzaky’s health has deteriorated in prison. He has already lost sight in one eye and lost the use of one arm. In 2019 there were global protests demanding his release, after revelations that he has severe lead poisoning in jail. Zakzaky’s Barrister Ishaq Adam Ishaq says “we are arguing that there is no case to answer, and are deeply concerned that it has taken so long for this case to be heard when clearly the defendants have serious health difficulties.”
