What’s new at ihrc.org.uk? – Remembering Srebrenica
July 2010 sees the 15th anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide. IHRC has put a number of resources on the website to highlight this atrocity and educate a new generation of what has passed.
These resources include an on-line poll asking one simple question:
Did you know that the Srebrenica Genocide is the worst atrocity committed in Europe since the Second World War?
You can access the poll on the front page www.ihrc.org.uk, as well as a video from the annual Genocide Memorial Day held earlier this year in London. Featured in the video is a letter and message from Srebrenica survivor Hassan Nuhanovic.
Other resources include:
A gallery of photographs by Assed Baig, and essay extract of his trip to the Srebrenica memorial in 2008 when 308 of the victims were finally laid to rest.
Gallery
The monthly Genocide Memorial Day essay focusing on UN complicity in the Genocide
GMD essay
As well as links to various commemoration events including the Stand Against Racism event to be held to coincide with the anniversary which falls on July 11 – the day of the World Cup Final. This commemoration is global and simple, so please take a minute to read this page.
Event
Peace to all the departed souls of Srebrenica.

“And what reason have you that you should not fight in the way of Allah and of the weak among the men and the women and the children, (of) those who say: Our Lord! Cause us to go forth from this town, whose people are oppressors, and give us from Thee a guardian and give us from Thee a helper.”
