“We, the undersigned, call for an immediate halt to the Israeli government’s war on the Lebanese and Palestinian people. The British government must be even handed in its calls for prisoner releases, and call for negotiations for the release of all Lebanese and Palestinian prisoners as well as the captured Israeli soldiers. Further the
British government needs to condemn the killing of all civilians in this conflict equally and to condemn without reservation the disproportionate use of force by Israeli forces.
The targeting of civilian infrastructure in both Lebanon and Gaza is a form of collective
punishment that clearly violates international law. For the British government to brush aside any criticism of Israeli actions is an affront to the intelligence and dignity of all those who are watching this catastrophe unfold, as well as all those whose lives have been so brutally lost.”
