Keeping our spirits up with Ramadan fast approaching may be challenging for many of us. Let’s take some time to reflect, focus on the positives, and see what lessons we can draw from this period of isolation.

Watch:

A short inspiring message from IHRC Chair Massoud Shadjareh on how believers should handle recent upheavals

Read:

Below is an extract from Talha Ahsan’s poem This Be The Answer. This poem was written from inside HMP Long Lartin while fighting extradition to USA.

A prisoner on his knees
scrubs around a toilet bowl
and the bristles of the brush
scuttles to and fro
as a guard swaggers over
to yell rather than ask -

Where is your God now?
The rest of this poem is available, along with a collection of others written by Talha during incarceration, from the IHRC Bookshop.

Donate a Ramadan Prison Pack

Muslim prisoners have a difficult time practicing their faith in prison. For female prisoners there are added hardships; many are estranged from their families, prolonged separation from children and the prospects of returning to a community that may judge them.

This year, IHRC continues its annual Ramadan campaign for female prisoners. Each pack contains items helping them make the most of Ramadan.
