IHRC Talk & Discussion, ‘Globalisation & British Muslim Identity: Opportunities and Challenges’ by Dr. Saied Reza Ameli

The Islamic Human Rights Commission presents a talk by Saied Reza Ameli

‘Globalisation & British Muslim Identity: Opportunities and Challenges’

Saturday 14th December, 5pm, The Library, Islamic Centre of England, 140 Maida Vale, London, W9, United Kingdom.

The talk will focus on the impact of globalisation on Muslims in the UK. How far is there such a thing as a British Muslim identity and how does this tally with ideas of ummah and global community? What effect has increased Americanisation had on the way British Muslims think and act? What if any are the generational differences in Muslim thought and consciousness in the UK?

These are just some of the questions to be raised in this discussion. Saied Reza Ameli is author of the acclaimed book ‘Globalisation, Americanisation & British Muslim Identity’ published by ICAS in August 2002. The book takes on these and many other questions, and is based on rigorous surveys and research conducted over several years.
