Publication Internships (2 – 4 positions)

IHRC Publications is opening up 2 – 4 internship positions.  Successful applicants will be working with editor(s) and (author(s) on a new book. Successful applicants can expect to gain experience in publishing and research.

These positions are perfect for applicants with an interest in publishing and a passion for Human Rights and literature. The successful candidates will be acknowledged in the published book. The interns will be required to travel in London in order to, inter alia, log archive material, scan, photograph, copy and catalogue files and materials, find resources and help to organise content.

These internships sit within the IHRC Publications section of the IHRC.

 

Key Information

  • Hours: 2 days a week, travel and subsistence costs will be covered
  • Duration: 1 – 3 months
  • Interview date: To be confirmed
  • Starting date: To be confirmed, earliest starting date is mid-August.
  • Location: Various across London, including some homeworking.

Applicants should provide at least two references, a CV and a covering letter briefly outlining why they would be suited to the role. When applying you will also be asked to send in a piece of written work of your choice, which showcases your abilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Scan and photocopy works from journals
  • Sift through relevant materials at external archives
  • Update the line manager on your progress
  • Comply and deliver within set deadlines
  • Always adhere to organisation processes and policies

Requirements:

  • An interest in publishing
  • An educational background in either literature, sociology or law (desirable)
  • Excellent organisational skills with an eye for detail
  • Administrative skills such as photocopying and sorting through material
  • Microsoft Office literate
