Part-time Vacancy at the Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC)
General Administrative Worker in the Research Section, 1- 2 days a week
One year starting July 2007
£12,000 pro rata

IHRC is looking for a part-time worker to provide administrative support in its research section. This post involves mainly secretarial and administrative work, although some basic research work may also be required.

Applicants should be computer literate. Applicants should be conversant with the aims and work of the IHRC, particularly its research section. A knowledge of (a) community language(s) is desirable but not essential. Applicants should provide at least two personal references and one academic or appropriate professional reference and a CV, with a covering letter briefly outlining why they want to work for IHRC.

Applications (including references) must be received by 5 pm Friday, 1st June, and must be available for interviews for short-listed candidates on Wednesday 13th or Friday 15th June.

IHRC hours are 10 am – 6 pm, and our offices are based in Wembley, London. Some work during unsociable hours may be required.

Job description:

Providing administrative support to in the research section, including answering letters and emails, taking and making phone calls, keeping files, taking minutes of meetings
Undertaking basic collation and other research related tasks
Helping to co-ordinate ongoing work and ensuring smooth communication between team members
Undertaking some general administrative work for IHRC
