This year, unity in support of the Palestinian struggle for freedom is stronger than ever, as campaigners and activists from all walks of life gather together.

The Al-Quds Day march and rally takes place every year.  Those who join it stand in support of the Palestinians and all oppressed peoples of the world.

The London march and rally has always drawn support from a wide base, including Muslims, Jews, Christians, non-believers and those of other faiths.

This year is no exception.

In the last two years, Al-Quds Day has been targeted by counter-demonstrators, last year comprising Zionist, white supremacist, Iranian communist and nationalist groups.  Last year, a section of the march was attacked by counter-demonstrators.

Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Massoud Shadjareh said:

“The symbolism of Al-Quds Day is as powerful now as when it first began some thirty years ago.  We see Muslims, Jews, Christians, people of many faiths and none stand together in support of the oppressed.

“Those who oppose freedom and justice for the Palestinians have tried to intimidate and demonise.  They need to realise that those who support justice, will not be so easily put off. We stand as one. ”

“And what reason have you that you should not fight in the way of Allah and of the weak among the men and the women and the children, (of) those who say: Our Lord! Cause us to go forth from this town, whose people are oppressors, and give us from Thee a guardian and give us from Thee a helper.”
