IHRC Trial Observer Abed Choudhury’s latest report.

IHRC appeals to UN Special Rapporteur on Torture to take up case of Bahraini human rights activists subjected to torture and other forms of abuse after being arrested during current crackdown on civil society activists and critics of the government.

Al-Singace, spokesperson for Haq (Haq movement of Civil Liberties and Democracy), accused Bahraini authorities of torturing him whilst in detention.

IHRC has appealed to the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders to take up the case of Dr Abduljalil Al-Singace, arrested in Bahrain after speaking at House of Lords and meeting with Amnesty International.

His arrest came the day after the ruler of Bahrain, Shaikh Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa, appealed for critics of the government to return to the country, promising them freedom of speech and action.
