PRESS RELEASES

IS IDEOLOGY SHOULD BE CONDEMNED, NOT JUST INDIVIDUAL ACTS

Pleas made by British Muslims to the ‘Islamic State’ (IS) to release British hostage Alan Henning should be accompanied by equivalent consideration for all victims of the extremist group.

POLICE FAILING TO STOP ZIONIST ATTACKS ON MANCHESTER RABBI

Shortly after Ahron Cohen spoke at a Rochdale demonstration (to oppose Israel’s military assault on Gaza) the grandfather’s car windows were smashed on two separate occasions. Eggs were thrown at his house and in the most violent incident to date arsonists set fire to the vehicle causing it to be written off. Nobody was injured in the blaze in the early hours of 19th September but the Rabbi’s calls to the police in the minutes preceding it went unanswered.

‘LAYERS OF PARADISE’ EXHIBITION LAUNCH

‘Layers of Paradise’ is IHRC’s latest exhibition, featuring the work of artist Romina Khanom. With installations and sculptures inspired by Arabic calligraphy and sacred text from the Quran, Romina creates work that is spiritual in both form and aesthetic. The exhibition launch will take place on Thursday, 23 October at 6.45pm.

ABU QATADA ACQUITTAL EXPOSES BRITISH ABANDONMENT OF DUE PROCESS

The acquittal of Abu Qatada by a Jordanian court is a damning indictment of the British government’s decision to extradite him from the UK highlighting just how far it has abandoned due process and the rule of law.

Policing, Protest and Conflict: Subtitled ‘A Report Into the Policing of the London Gaza Demonstrations in 2008-2009’. In this well documented research we see a myriad of complaints against the police by protesters – many of which were not investigated resulting in a lack of justice. We also are privy to how some of the police abused their authority and acted in a way that was above and beyond any power they hold.

This Be The Answer – Poems from Prison: Straight from the pen of Talha Ahsan when he was locked up in the USA without charge or trial. Talha had a wrongful four years to pen these poems and deliver them in this short but punchy pamphlet. Dripping with raw emotion, at times you can feel the poet’s anguish and sorrow through the imaginative words he chooses.

A Season in the Congo: Recounts the tragic death of Patrice Lumumba, the first prime minister of the Congo Republic and an African nationalist hero. The play follows Lumumba’s efforts to free the Congolese from Belgian rule and the political struggles that led to his assassination in 1961.
